Steps of Salvation

Here are some simple steps of salvation.
The first step is remembering that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.  Prayer is talking to God as if He were reclining right beside you engaged in a normal conversation.  Talk to God out loud.  If you’re hurting, angry, or disappointed, yell at Him if you need to--He understands.  But if you’re happy let God be a part of that as well.  The important thing is to develop a relationship with your Father, be honest forthright, involving God in everything you do.  He wants to be a part of your life, the good times and the bad times.  Prayer is simply an honest truthful conversation with God.  You don’t need to be in a particular place or in a particular position God wants interaction wherever you are.   Make it and keep it personal.

Second, it is important to get a Bible you can read and understand.  Set time aside each day to spend with God.  Not just a hello, good -bye, but make it a priority to spend quality time with the Lord.  The length of time is not what’s important, the substance is what’s important.  Take the time to soak in and understand what you’re reading, be real and interactive when you pray, conversation means two way, you and God talking with each other.  It is also important that time with God should be uninterrupted.  The Bible tells about Jesus going to a secluded place to talk to His father.  Jesus did not want any distractions, He wanted to give His full attention to God.  This by the way is considered first fruit, giving the best of your time to God.  After all, He has already given His best to you and I.

Third, find a church with a strong Biblical foundation.  A church that tells you what you want to hear is a church to stay away from.  There are many churches who teach fluff,  Jesus is truth and truth is not always easy to hear, but truth never sways or changes, truth is what we can depend on.  Jesus is the truth and the light we should take on the same attitude, seeking only truth regardless of social pressure and traditional influences.

And fourth, tell someone about receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior.  The Bible says, That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

Prayer of Salvation

Now pray this prayer, out loud and with meaning, from your heart.  You are receiving the greatest gift you will ever know.  God will pick you up, hold you tight, dust you off, and place you on the road to salvation.  All of heaven will rejoice over your becoming a part of God’s family.

Father I come to you as a sinner, I confess my sins to you and I ask in the name of Jesus Christ your Son to wash away any sin in my life, cleanse me of my filthy past, purify me for my future.  Father, I believe that your son, Jesus Christ came into this world to save sinners like me.  He gave of His life on a cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb, and rose again on the third day so I could have life eternal.

Father I believe Jesus gave of His blood to wash away my sins, giving me a new start, renewing me through His blood.  I accept and receive the promise of salvation made available through the blood of Jesus Christ.  Thank you Father for your everlasting love, thank you Jesus for the sacrifice you made for me on the cross.  Father baptize me in your Holy Spirit, dwell within my heart, guide my steps, teach me your ways, help me to walk with you forever.  I accept the inheritance of salvation through Jesus Christ.  Jesus come into my heart and dwell  forever.  I ask this and receive this in the name above all names, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
